ROCKY'S GOLDMINE TRAIL
Bush walk (2 1/2 to 3 hours) Take Victoria Street to Dickson Holiday Park where walk starts. See excellent views of the Firth of Thames, regenerating native forest and swimming holes.
KARAKA BIRD HIDE
By the Goldfields Shopping Mall, Brown Street. Take the board walk through the mangroves to the Hide, where you can sit and watch birds in the Thames Firth.
WAR MEMORIAL MONUMENT
Overlooking Thames township, a great view. Take Waiotahi Creek Road to the top, at the north of the town.

KAUAERANGA VALLEY
There's no better way to see the Kauaeranga Valley than to go by mountain bike. The road follows the Kauaeranga River passing a couple of swimming spots on the way.
SQUARE KAURI TREE
You can cycle up the coast road to the Square Kauri Tree, one of the largest and oldest on the Coromandel Peninsula. This tree is located on the road between Tapu and Coroglen, about two hours ride from Thames.

PINNACLES HUT
The Pinnacles Hut in the upper Kauaeranga Valley is a three hour walk from the roadend. It has 80 bunks, matresses, toilets, a cold shower, solar lighting, gas cookers and a solid fuel burner. Cooking utensils are not provided. A warden is present at all times. Hut tickets must be pre-booked through the Kauaeranga Visitor Centre well before your trip.
REMOTE CAMPING
There are remote camping areas near the Pinnacles Hut, at Billygoat Clearing and at Moss Creek.
All fees should be paid at the Kauaeranga Valley Visitor Centre.
